Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzales-Collins, who is an Mexican American journalist. Her current job is with ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since when she was nine years old. Her abilities were crucial in her landing her first job as a production assistant at Univision Miami at which time she collaborated with producers of programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In 2009, the CBS station in St. Petersburg hired her for a position as the sports reporter. She also worked as a journalist with KNVO TV 48 Univision in Rio Grande Valley Texas. In reporting on news stories related to drug trafficking and immigration both on the Texas as well as the Mexico frontier, she worked as a news reporter on both the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. The anchor also acted as a fill-in anchors of sports and weather. Later, she was the anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. She was then given higher responsibilities. She reported on The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseasons as well as the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. She also hosted on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted as anchor of sports on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same role on Primer Impacto on UniMas Network, and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. At some point they moved from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. There is an older sister. The family relocated from Mexico to Miami in 1992 after leaving Mexico. She divorced her parents shortly thereafter and, in 1995, she got married to a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. The couple remained there in Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer, where she had been offered the opportunity of a job. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school however, she had a very clear vision of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University to decide if it would be a good fit for her. The campus was a dream for her. They also offered the college she had always wanted. After graduation, she enrolled in the university for a degree in media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU where she is a member. They formed a strong relationship. He inspired her to be confident, and his love of journalism had a profound impact on her and she also determined to meet his expectations, and to never disappoint him.
